Tell us about you! Can you share some interesting tidbits we may not know?
I’m a mother of three, ages 19, 18 & 13. Why did no one tell me that the hardest part of parenting is when they are close to adulthood? I’ve been married over 20 years. I have a LOT of visible tattoos, including across my chest. I live in freezing cold Montana but am from Portland, Oregon. I love anything romantic comedy/chick lit, both in movies, books and TV. I suffer from a yet to be diagnosed autoimmune disease that sometimes makes my life pretty miserable. I apparently collect pets, we have 3 cats, 3 dogs and a tank full of fish.
What inspired you to start writing?
I’m not a very serious person in real life. I laugh a lot, including at completely inappropriate times. I fell in love with the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella and started writing for fun not long after. It took me ten years, but I’ve always known I was supposed to be a writer.
Other than writing, what are some of your passions in life?
I love thrifting for new home decor. I like vintage. I don’t want my home to be like everyone elses mass-produced IKEA or Farmhouse showrooms. I love colorful and retro. I love finding unique things I love that maybe no one else has and I love mixing eras! New, old, and unique create quite a cool home.
What was your debut novel, and how has your writing process changed since your debut?
Actually, my debut novel was released on August 2nd, 2017. And even though it’s recent I’ve learned so many things that I do well and so many things that need work. I see an improvement in the manuscript I’m working on now and I see my genre evolving.
What is your favorite part of the writing/publishing process and why?
I love that anticipation of a release date nearing. The cover reveal, the early reviews, the buzz around a book on the way. I think that has to be my favorite part.
What is your most challenging part of the writing/publishing process and what do you do to make it easier?
Getting started! I struggle with starting a new manuscript. I feel like those first few opening chapters have to be bang on or the entire manuscript will fail or go down a road you never intended. Because of this, I toss out a lot of six chapter manuscripts.
What does a typical day look like for you? How do you find balance?
I homeschool my youngest child and run a business with my husband so my days change day to day. Generally, I try to focus on one thing, a day of cleaning, a day of schooling, a day of business, a day of book marketing and fit in little things in the spare moments.
If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
Just write! Let the first draft be bad. It’s easier to edit a bad manuscript and polish it into something fabulous than to edit a blank page.
What do you love about writing romance?
I personally love the happy endings. I love that feeling of a couple finally reaching the point they’ve fought for through the entire story.
What kinds of things do you find romantic in real life? Can you share a story?
I’m the girl who cries at the car commercial with the dad writing a note to his daughter getting ready to get married. It’s safe to say little things get to me but off the top of my head I just don’t have any personally.
Do you read your book reviews? If so, how do they affect your writing (if at all)?
I do! I actually do a series called ‘Aimee Reads Mean Reviews’ and I do a live video talking about my bad reviews in a humorous light. So, now when I get one it isn’t as much ‘earth-shattering’ as it as ‘oohh, this one will be funny’. It’s very therapeutic.
What is the craziest, funniest, or most surprising thing that has happened to you since publishing your first book?
I was approached by an agent and within a week had a contract with Audible! That was crazy! And fun.
Little Gray Dress is my most recent (and debut) release. According to readers, it’s laugh-out-loud funny, romantic and a little dramatic but fun. If you love weddings, break-ups, engagements, mean-girls, drama, psychic aunts, sarcastic comments, and romance, you might love it!
Is there any other news you would like to share?
My next manuscript is headed to beta readers by late November so stay tuned for release updates and cover reveals!

LITTLE GRAY DRESS
Emi Harrison has avoided her ex-fiance, Jack Cabot, for nearly two years. Her twin brother Evan’s wedding is about to end that streak.
From bad bridesmaid’s dresses, a hyperactive sister-in-law, a mean girl with even meaner secrets, and too much to drink, nothing seems to go right for Emi, except when she’s wearing her little gray dress.
When she speed-walks into Liam Jaxon’s bar, things get more complicated. He’s gorgeous, southern, and has no past with Emi. He may be exactly what she needs to prove for the last time that she doesn’t need or want Jack!
Her favorite little gray dress has made an appearance at nearly every major event in Emi’s adult life. Will it make another grand appearance when she least expects it?
